Small business website design

Small business website design that wins you work

Small business website design for trades, professional services and owner-led businesses across Australia. A site that explains what you do, proves you are good at it, and turns the right visitors into enquiries.

We handle the strategy, copy, design, build and measurement. You get one senior person across the whole thing, with a build team behind him.

Melbourne based, working with businesses Australia-wide since 2018.

The problem

Why most small business websites don't bring in work

Most small business sites are brochures: built once, never measured, never given a job to do. The business grew, the website didn't.

It looks fine but the phone is quiet

The site went live, everyone moved on, and it has sat there ever since without sending you a single enquiry.

It is a template with your logo on it

A theme built for everyone fits no one. Buyers can tell when a site says nothing specific about your business.

There is no plan behind it

The site was a one-off project, so nobody decided what it should do, who it should reach, or how you would know it is working.

You cannot tell if it is working

No tracking on enquiries, no idea where visitors come from, no way to connect the website to actual jobs won.

Sound familiar?

Bring the current site to a call and we will tell you honestly what is worth keeping.

The job

What a small business website design should actually do

Your website is the centre of how you get found. It needs a clear offer, proof, obvious next steps, and measurement wired in from day one.

01

Clear offer

Say what you do and who for

A buyer landing on your site should know within seconds what you do, where you work, and why they should pick up the phone.

  • Plain-English copy
  • Service pages that match how buyers search
  • Proof on every page
02

Conversion paths

Make the next step obvious

Every page needs a job: an enquiry form, a phone number, a booking link. We design the paths a real buyer would take and remove the friction from each one.

  • Enquiry forms that get answered
  • Click-to-call on mobile
  • Booking built in
03

Measurement

Know what is working

Analytics and enquiry tracking are wired in from day one, so you can see what the site brings in rather than guessing.

  • GA4 events on every enquiry path
  • Search Console set up
  • Plain-English reporting

Honest answer first

Website redesign or start again?

Not every site needs a rebuild. A website redesign makes sense when the bones are good: the domain has history, the structure roughly works, and the problem is dated design or copy that undersells you.

Starting again makes sense when the site is locked into an old builder, the structure fights how buyers search, or fixing it would cost more than replacing it. We will tell you which one you are in before any money changes hands.

Redesign

Keep the bones

Good domain history, sound structure, weak presentation. We rework design and copy, plan redirects, and protect what already ranks.

Rebuild

Replace the platform

Locked-in builders, slow themes, structure that fights search intent. A clean rebuild is usually cheaper than three rounds of patching.

Built to convert

A lead generation website, from day one

A brochure tells people you exist. A lead generation website gives every visitor a clear way to become an enquiry, and counts each one so you know it happened.

Enquiry forms

Short forms with qualifying questions, delivered reliably to your inbox so nothing slips through.

Phone-first on mobile

Most service-business buyers ring. Your number is one tap away on every page.

Tracking on every path

Form submits, calls and booking clicks all fire tracked events, so enquiries are counted rather than assumed.

Follow-up ready

Enquiries land somewhere they will be actioned, with the detail you need to respond well on the first reply.

Client results

The numbers behind the claims

Brunetti Oro is a Melbourne institution. We ran their digital end to end: the store, SEO, Google Ads and email. In the twelve months to March 2026 the store did A$1.96M, up from A$1.33M the year before. The email work we built returned A$194,000 in attributed revenue over two years.

+47.9%year-on-year revenue growth

For a national parts distributor, we built a wholesale account portal and ERP-connected backorder visibility, quoted fixed price before we started. We also manage WooCommerce stores putting through seven figures a year. More client results.

Investment

What small business website design costs

The build is a one-off, quoted fixed price before we start. The fastest way in is the Website Foundation package: a home page built to convert, a page plan and a 12-month roadmap for $2,450.

After launch, the Web Manager plan keeps the site cared for and improving for $400 a month. That is the baseline most clients run on. When you want the site actively winning new work, with content, search and ads handled for you, that work sits between $1,800 and $5,000 a month depending on scope.

Already have a site that needs to get found? That is SEO for small business.

Questions

Common questions before starting

If you are not sure where your site fits, bring the messy version to a call. It is usually more useful.

How long does a small business website take to build?

Most builds take three to six weeks from kick-off to launch. The biggest variable is content: when the copy and photos come together quickly, the build does too. If you need a faster start, our Website Foundation package is the quickest path.

Do you build on WordPress or something else?

Both, chosen around the job. Fast static sites suit most service businesses because there is nothing to hack and nothing to slow down. WordPress still makes sense when your team needs to edit content often, and WooCommerce when you sell online.

Do you work with businesses outside Melbourne?

Yes. We are Melbourne based and work with small businesses across Australia. Almost everything happens over video calls and shared documents, the same way we work with clients twenty minutes away.

Do you write the website copy?

Yes. We interview you, then write copy that sounds like your business and answers what buyers actually ask. Most projects improve sharply when the copy and the structure are handled together.

What happens after launch?

The site is handed over with training, and most clients keep us on to manage it: updates, security, content changes and the ongoing search work that builds on the foundation.
